Kalkan Turkish Local News carries limited advertising. 

We are happy to confirm that 100% of our local advertising income goes directly to The KTLN Trust.  This is a UK based fund, for the benefit of Kalkan. 

Here is how advertsing works on this website.

Advertising Banners
We have an area for advertsing banners towards the top of our web Pages.  These appear randomly when you open a web page.

When you click on the banner it will take you to the advertisers web site.  If they do not have their own web site, you will be directed to an enhanced Business Directory page within the KTLN website.

We currently allow a maximum of 18 businesses to have an advertising banner with KTLN.  All our banner advert spots are currently taken, but we do have a waiting list.  If you wish to go on the waiting list, please get in touch with us.

Banner adverts - technical details
The banner can be static (i.e. a single image), or it can be a flash banner (i.e. moving images - .gif or.swf files).  The image size must be 468 x 60.

The advertiser must provide KTLN with the file (.jpg, .gif or .swf).  Flash banners require a specific piece of coding for the link through to the advertiser's website to work, and we will provide this.

Cost of a banner advert
Currently, we invite advertisers to make a donation to The KTLN Trust, as follows:

• For a static banner - £100
• For a flash banner £150

This gives an advertiser a banner for 12 calendar months.

We count how many times each banner advert appears, and also how many times people click on the banner to go through to the advertiser's website.  This enables advertisers to know how much visibility their banner has had.

KTLN Business Directory
You can enhance the brief details that we show in our Business Directory.  If you agree to make a minimum donation to The KTLN Trust (contact us for details), you can tell us more about your business. 

For example you can show your email address, add photos, and add text to tell KTLN users more about your business.

Google Ads
We have a small income stream from Google Ads.  This goes towards our running costs.

Independent
At KTLN we try to remain objective, impartial and independent.  The fact that we have advertising, in the form of Google Ads or advertising banners, or that we permit enhanced Business Directory entries, does not mean that KTLN recommends the businesses featured.  

We are not trying to steer you to any particular business.  The aim of our website is to provide you with comprehensive information that is helpful and accurate, so that you can make an informed decsion.  If you believe that we fall short of the standards we have set ourselves, please let us know and we will review our website content.

The right to approve and to decline
The KTLN editorial team does reserve the right to approve advertising material, or indeed to decline any request to advertise on this website.

We prefer to have our banner adverts available for Kalkan businesses, however from time to time, if there is no demand locally, we may consider businesses outside Kalkan.

This website was established on 1st April 2009.  We are now the most popular English language website in Kalkan, so your banner will be seen by lots of Kalkan lovers. 

We are delighted with the numbers of people visiting the site and also with the positive feedback we have received so far.  On our home page, you can see examples of feedback that we have received. 

As far as numbers are concerned, on our home page we have some interesting KTLN statistics, including:

• the number of guests (not logged in) currently online
• the number of members (logged in) currently online
• toal number currently online
• most people online, and when
• most members logged in, and when
• new members regisitered in the last 30 days
• total number of KTLN members

In the summer of 2010, we were getting over 1,600 visitors per day - by May 2011 the number of visits increased to 2,200 per day.  In December 2012, despite being out of season, KTLN was getting well over 3,000 visitors every day.

We have more members than any other Kalkan website: as at January 2012, we have about 4,900 members.

N.B.  In our first year only, (2009), some of the banner advertising income was used to cover part of our set up and running expenses.  The expenses we recovered mostly related to IT items such as software, server costs and the KTLN web cameras. 

Expenses we have been happy to stand include things like electricity and ADSL charges.  And of course, nobody at KTLN gets paid.  Nobody in the UK or in Kalkan charges for their time or claims personal expenses.

Once we had covered these limited items of expenditure, any surplus advertising revenue went directly to The KTLN Trust.  Since the end of 2009, 100% of local advertising income has gone to The KTLN Trust.
