The rate of inflation in Turkey, last month was 10.61%, up from 10.45% in December 2011.
The January rise in CPI was driven largely by increases in the costs of tobacco and alcohol, and also by higher food and fuel costs. The Central Bank of Turkey has a 2012 year end inflation target of just 5.5%, and says we should start to see the rate come down markedly, after the first quarter of this year. |

KTLN recently told you how the Esnaf hospital in Fethiye had moved round the corner to brand new, purpose built premises.
Following the move, a programme of open days is being planned for Wednesday afternoons from 14.00, and Thursday mornings from 10.30. A brief tour of the building will be followed by a chance to put questions to, and have an informal chat with, Margaret (Foreign Patient Department Manager) and Dr Timuçin (Tourism Doctor) over a tea or coffee. |

It's called "They are our fellow townsmen", and they would like to hear from you. They are conducting research to see what foreigners think about the service they provide, so they can identify where things can be improved. |

If you were in any doubt as to whether the new 90/180 day visa rules would come in to force as planned, here is confirmation.
The British Embassy in Turkey web site has been updated, and confirms that the new rules will be enforced, with effect from tomorrow, 1st February 2012. It has been delayed for some time, but the day of implementation has finally arrived. |

Further updated 31st January: There is an update today, to the British Embassy notice of 25th January.
It basically confirms what they have already said, and what KTLN has already reported - namely that SGK is not compulsory for British nationals living in Turkey.
But there are still lots of questions unanswered, which they are working on. |
