The Belediye have made a slight alteration to the barriers on the road by the taxi rank.
It would seem that some traffic was getting round the barriers by taking a short cut through the taxi rank. This is no longer possible. You can see the new configuration in the photo below. |

Victory Day (Zafer Bayram), was celebrated in Kalkan on Monday 30th August. This date in 1922 is when the Turks defeated the Greeks in Anatolia.
A formal ceremony took place at the Atatürk statue, next to Doy Doy restaurant, with all the usual Kalkan VIPs in attendance. There were also some public meetings and conferences during the day.
In the evening, there was a torchlight procession down to the lighthouse at the harbour, and then back towards the new amphitheatre at Kalkan First School.

As you approach the traffic lights on the D400, coming from Fethiye, you will see the sign proclaiming this, on the right hand side of the road. Next week, the Mayor of Cupramontana and a number of VIPs will visit Kalkan, and in October there will be a reciprocal visit by the Mayor of Kalkan to Cupramontana. |
