KTLN has discussed with the Belediye, on a few occasions, the possibility of Kalkan having a tourist information point.

The Belediye appreciates the benefits of having such a service, but so far it has not been possible to provide one.

We mentioned in a recent news article that Kalkan's library is going to move soon, from underneath the Belediye offices, to the ground floor building where Deniz Bank used to be located, (opposite the taxi rank).  The move has not taken place yet, but when it does, we believe that this would make an ideal location to have a tourism information desk.

It's ideal because the Belediye already owns the building, and it is in a spot that the majority of people walk past to go into town.  All that would be required is a desk, chairs, a computer with internet connection and a telephone line.

If a Turkish member of staff cannot be found immediately, we have suggested that a small group of local English speaking volunteers could easily be found to man the dek on a rota.  We are certain that this can be achieved.

But it's your views we are interested in.  Does Kalkan need a tourist information point?  What do you think about KTLN's suggestion to use the library?

If you are a KTLN member, please vote in our latest poll, and if you have any comments drop us a line - or if your comment is quite brief, write something in the KTLN Feedback box on our home page.

You can find the poll on our home page too - on the right hand side.
