| Forest fire near Çayköy on Saturday 25th September |
| Monday, 27 September 2010 |
Share There was a serious forest fire on Saturday 25th September near the village of Çayköy, which is a short drive inland from Kalkan.KTLN observed 7 fire engines heading along the D400 towards the fire, and it is reported that fire fighting helicopters were also deployed to tackle the outbreak. Around 4 hectares of pine forest was affected, but fortunately the fire was contained and put out. It is a timely reminder that despite the fact that temperatures have come down a little, the land remains tinder dry, and great care needs to be taken in the countryside. The cause of the fire is being investigated. The KTLN emergency information page on who to call in the event of a fire, can be read here. Photo courtesy of Kalkan Haber. Share |
