Artificial pitch in KalkanAs someone once said, "Ye cannae change the laws of physics", but where grass (or çim, in Turkish), is hard to grow and maintain, you can bring in green, artificial turf.

And that is what the Belediye has done at the communal football pitch behind its offices, in town.  We now have a vivid green playing field.

But more than that, it's red 'çim', red 'çim', red 'çim', more than that it's red 'çim', round the edge of the pitch.

OK - enough of the Star Trekking theme, we just wanted to tell you that the football pitch has been resurfaced.

Apparently it's a brilliant surface to play on, and just that bit more forgiving on old, weary legs.  You are less likely to injure yourself, with something like a torn achilles on this new surface.  Not that anyone would be daft enough to tear their achilles playing on that pitch, would they?  Hmm...

Below: The new artificial pitch being laid.
