LOVE the website, so much information and I always recommend it to our guests, particularly the map, which is very comprehensive.

Overnight thunder storms drench Kalkan PDF Print E-mail

Overnight stormKalkan experienced a severe downpour last night.

The peak of the storm appeared to be around 3am, with thunder and lightning directly overhead.

This morning, (Saturday), many people are without power, and some have not got a working phone line.

At KTLN HQ in K
ızıltaş, we have neither. As we publish this article, all of the KTLN live webcams are off.

In town, the damage appears to be minimal, compared to storms we have experienced in the past. Roads are relatively unscathed, in that the road surfaces have not been washed away, however there is plenty of debris, washed down from the top end of town.

The new D400 appears to have coped well. The road is clear and the roadside boundary walls are intact.

Businesses are mopping up, but we saw no signs of serious flood damage. Restaurants with outdoor seating areas appear to have been well prepared.  They could be seen this morning removing plastic sheeting, and pushing pools of water off overhead awnings.

The forecast is for more of the same over coming days. If you are coming to Kalkan this week, you may want to bring a small umbrella.

A few photos from Saturday morning follow.
