The new local Jandarma Chief for the Kaş region, Murat Aydın, is following up the successful foreigners meeting in Kalkan, with a similar meeting in Kaş.

The meeting will take place at the Jandarma HQ in Kaş, at 2pm, on Wednesday 10th November. So if you are one of KTLN's many readers in Kaş, why not go along and get to know them?

It is an opportunity for people to ask questions, and for the Jandarma to explain their role, and importantly, to publicise their new Emergency ID number scheme.

The meeting last month in Kalkan, was attended by around 30 foreigners, where Murat Aydın was the main speaker. To read more about the Kalkan meeting, click here.

KTLN would certainly recommend the voluntary Emergency ID number scheme to local foreigners. Here's why.

The alarm at KTLN HQ went off last month, whilst we were out of town. Our alarm monitoring company phoned us, and we immediately phoned the Kalkan Jandarma, quoting our Emergency ID number. They were on the scene in less than 5 minutes, from the alarm going off.

The holidaymakers in the villa next door were astounded by such a rapid response. When we returned to Kalkan, we apologised to them for the alarm going off (a false alarm, as it turned out), but apparently the whole incident had livened up their evening. They were full of praise for the Jandarma, and indeed, so are we.
