KAPSA November 2010The Kalkan Association for the Protection of Street Animals (KAPSA) must be on a high, ahead of their AGM, later this week.

On Sunday, KAPSA held a coffee morning at the Kleo Bar, close to Kalkan town beach, where they raised a huge amount of money to support their work with street animals.

The glorious, sunny day brought many people out to grab a bargain from a number of KAPSA stalls.

The tombola and raffle were popular, with a number of excellent items to tempt those who turned up, including a rather magnificent Christmas hamper.

Also on offer were a selection of wonderful cakes and savories, with drinks provided by the staff at Kleo Bar. A gözleme lady was hard at work turning out tasty fayre.

The KAPSA coffee mornings have become a favourite date in Kalkan's social calendar, but the reason behind the day, is to raise funds, and they broke their record by a mile.

KAPSA November 2010

Twelve months ago, in November 2009, they took 5,510TL. In April 2010, they raised 6,231TL. But on Sunday, they topped all previous amounts, with a massive 9,245TL - that's 68% up on last November.

KAPSA would like to thank everyone for turning out and providing such magnificent support, and also Durali, the owner of Kleo Bar, (pictured above), for hosting the day, which actually spilled over into the Seaport Restaurant as well.  We understand the gözleme team also shared their profit on the day.

After the raffle, Sadık Öğretir conducted a group of Kalkan school children who sang a traditional song, with 3 of the children playing accordian. A great performance - just a shame that many people had left before they played, as there was no prior notice.
