Kalkan commemorates the death of Atatürk PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 09 November 2010
ShareAtatürkAtatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, died on 10th November 1938.

The date of his death is commemorated every year in Turkey.

All across the country, at precisely 09.05, the time of his death, many people stop what they are doing, and stand in silence, out of respect for Atatürk.

In Kalkan, there will be a ceremony at this time, at the Atatürk statue in between Doy Doy and Salt and Pepper restaurants.

In the evening, starting at 19.00, there will be a free concert of Atatürk's favourite music, at the school amphitheatre. Everyone is invited to attend.
