Apart from being unsightly, pools that are not looked after can become breeding grounds for mosquitos and other flies - even in the cooler months of the year, which is not pleasant. If you own a property with a pool, the Belediye would appreciate your co-operation, by either emptying your pool completely, or using the appropriate chemicals to ensure it is kept clean. Of course, pools that are emptied can soon collect rain water over the winter months, which requires regular monitoring. Whilst the Belediye can still call upon the mozzie sprayers to tackle known hot spots, this costs money, and every lira spent on spraying, is a lira that can't be spent on other, perhaps more important things. KTLN is happy to pass on this request from the Belediye: Please be a good neighbour, and take responsibility for your pool this winter. Thank you. Kalkan Belediye is asking people with swimming pools to think of the consequences of letting them turn green this winter.
