Police raid in KalkanKTLN can report that local Police and Jandarma are taking proactive steps to combat local crime.

On Thursday 25th November at 05.30, a joint force of 55 Police and Jandarma officers, acting on intelligence received, made a dawn raid on 14 properties in Kalkan
.

Local officers were joined by those from neighbouring towns, and also specially trained sniffer dogs.

The targets were drug dealers and burglars. A total of 42 people were arrested, many of them for drug related crime. Most were later released, however 4 suspected drug dealers have been charged, (AK, HT, SC & S
Ş) and will go to trial. The raid recovered 951 pieces of marijuana, and 4kg of cannabis.

A local painter (RÇ), was arrested and is being charged in connection with 16 burglaries in Kalkan and Kaş.

An Aladdin's cave of stolen goods was discovered at his address in Ulugöl, including 4 LCD TVs, stereo equipment, suitcases, shoes, cameras, wines and spirits, perfumes, an iron, and bizarrely, a bag of washing powder, and 12 rolls of toilet paper.

Anyone who has had items stolen recently, can take a look at the recovered items.  They are all being stored at the Police station in Ka
ş.

KTLN has been told that further intelligence led action, against local suspected criminals can be expected.
