Kalkan roadsHere is the KTLN roads update for December.

Starting with the D400, we can report that work is well underway on the stretch from the Luka restaurant junction, heading towards Kışla.

There are several diggers excavating the rock - incidentally, it was nice to see a genuine JCB, (pictured right), working alongside lots of Volvo machines.

Yesterday afternoon, this mechanical digging was complemented by the use of explosives, as the contractors try to speed things up.  See photo below.

In fact, you can tell they are against the clock now,as they have sought, and been given permission, to continue working until 10pm.

Elsewhere on the D400, there is no more news on the footbridge that was originally planned, to cross the new dual carriageway, close to the bus station. KTLN is going to ask the Belediye whether the idea has been dropped or just delayed.

At the traffic light junction, road markings have just been painted, including zebra crossings. Having witnessed a near miss this week, as a car sped through red lights, we would strongly recommend a cautious approach to using these new zebra crossings. Don't assume you will be given the right of way!

The new concrete road by the
Arçelik shop, leading to Kızıltaş has just been dug up to repair a broken water pipe. It should be back to normal soon.

Work has not yet started on the dual carriageway into town, from the traffic lights, down towards Ziraat Bank.

In a number of side streets in the town, including Karayolları Sokak (where the Thursday market is), you can see road works where new electric cables are being laid. Some roads are a bit of a mess, so please take care.
