We have said before how good it can be in Kalkan over Christmas and New Year. The weather is usually pleasant, with warm days and cooler evenings - although you can't rule out a bit of wind and rain. And a few more shops and restaurants open up, to accommodate the influx of yuletide yabancis. Elsewhere in Turkey, the Ministry of Culture & Tourism is trying to attract more visitors over the winter months, as you can see from the following online news articles. Winter sports enthusiasts are a group of tourists that Turkey would particularly like to see more of. Hurriyet Daily News article Todays Zaman article You may recall an article we wrote back in March 2010, where we reported how difficult it is to get to our nearest ski resort in Seki. We heard from a couple of KTLN members, who told us that the resort is operational, and one of them is planning to go there later this month.
