Christmas in KalkanIn Kalkan, for most people, Christmas Eve was just another working day, and Christmas Day, will be just another Saturday.

But for the ex-pat community, and people flying out for a festive break, Christmas will be celebrated in style, with all the usual trimmings.

Some restaurants have traditional Turkey on their menu, wth tinsel and the odd inflatable Santa adding to the yuletide atmosphere, (nothing too tacky, you understand).

Those celebrating in their villas or apartments, will no doubt have had special deliveries from the UK, of Christmas puddings, mince pies and crackers.

Wherever you are at this time, all of us at Kalkan Turkish Local News would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year, (which we hope will include some time in Kalkan).

We are having a day off on Christmas Day.  See you on Boxing Day.

We will leave you with a few images from Kalkan on Christmas Eve 2010.

Below: The tranquility of Kalkan harbour, and in the background,  some of the boats recently lifted from the water.

Below: A new meeter and greeter, at a harbour side restaurant.  He's on a short term contract.

Below: Look what the sea washed up!  Swept up from around the Pinar Büfe cafe and around the children's playground. And that is only part of it - there's more.

Below: Gone fishing.

Below: More fishermen.  Hard to imagine that the sea was overwhelming the breakwater just a few days ago.

Below: Süleyman - in the summer, a taxi driver, and in winter, a provider of quality kebabs.  His pitch is outside the Yalı supermarket.

Below: KTLN member Barry Varney, was at Patara beach late this afternoon, and just happened to spot Santa, setting off on his long journey, having stopped off in his old home town of Patara.  If you have been good girls and boys, you may see him soon.
