| All property in Kaş to be white - KTLN poll - how about Kalkan? |

Share It has been reported that the Mayor of Kaş, Abdullah Gültekin has announced that all homes and business properties are henceforth to be painted white. Citing the example of the Aegean coastal town of Bodrum, where this is already a requirement, the Mayor said that existing legislation provides Kaş Belediye with the authority to insist on this. The move is intended to reflect, and retain the historical culture of whitewashed buildings, prevalent on this part of the Mediterranean coastline. KTLN is unable to confirm how this affects existing properties, or how long property owners have to conform, however all construction work in progress must comply. Approval for future building will include a requirement to use white paint. This interesting news has prompted us to run a new poll. It's a simple question. Should all property in Kalkan be painted white? We understand that many years ago, property in Kalkan was predominantly white. It is only over the last 10 years or so that different colours have emerged. Your options in the poll are: Yes, No, or Don't Know. Registered members of KTLN can find the poll on the right side of our home page, underneath the webcam image. For information, when you click on the poll results page, you will see a drop down box, where you can select and view results from all KTLN polls. The last poll was about how important the internet is to you, when you are on holiday. The results show that only 1 in 10 of our respondents don't need internet access. Conversely, 4 out of 10 say it is essential, and 3 out of 10 tell us it is quite important. A further 2 out of 10 say it is 'nice to have'. So if you rent your villa or apartment, it may be worth thinking about providing wireless internet, if you don't already, as the majority of visitors would find it useful.
