She settled in Dalyan in 1984, and since that time has been a driving force in protecting the local caretta caretta breeding sites. June Haimoff is currently trying to establish a foundation, to secure the future of Iztuzu Beach, and its turtle population. The British environmentalist, June Haimoff, who has done much to protect loggerhead turtles in the Dalyan delta, in Turkey, has been awarded an MBE in the Queen's 2011 New Year's Honours list.
