Below, we bring you the figures for Turkey and also for Kalkan, and other nearby towns. The data comes from the Address Based Population Registration System (ABPRS), which is operated by the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs (GDPCA). The figures are believed to include foreigners with residency. The population of Turkey as at 31st December 2010 was 73,722,988. That's an increase of 1.16 million on 2009. Istanbul is Turkey's largest population centre, with an official figure of 13.3 million residents - 18% of the whole population. Turning to some local statistics, the population of Kalkan continues to grow, year on year. However the rate of growth slowed last year.
