I always thought there was a need for a website that would convey all the current news, and local information in English to expats, as well as tourists visiting Kalkan, and I think you do it very well.

Kalkan's taxi drivers have moved back to the spot they occupied over the road from the old Belediye building on Mustafa Kocakaya Cad.  They have vacated the spaces they were occupying in the town car park, and have a new wooden building which will be their HQ.

The taxi drivers have clarified for KTLN the rates that will apply in 2009 for local journeys.

Local journeys are defined as within the main part of Kalkan (Menteşe Mahallesı), Kalamar, Kışla, Akbel and Meskii Ulugöl (towards Kelebek furniture shop, and as far as Kapıtaş).  If you are travelling any further afield always check how the fare is to be calculated.

Before midnight

  • Minimum charge - as shown on the meter at the start your journey - 3.00 TRY
  • For every 200 metres travelled - 40 kuruş
After midnight
  • Minimum charge - as shown on the meter at the start your journey - 4.50 TRY
  • For every 200 metres travelled - 60 kuruş
