Kalkan weather turns wet and windy PDF Print E-mail

Breezy KalkanThe weather in Kalkan took a turn for the worse last night, heralding the start of a wet and windy week.

Yesterday evening, customers in a Kalkan restaurant looked on as waiters struggled to keep the 'wall' of plastic sheeting in place.

After a night of rain and gusting winds, there was no evidence of any serious damage this morning, however we suspect that a number of ceramic pots may have been smashed.

We also noticed a length of metal from a chimney, which crashed down on to a street in the centre of town. We hope nobody was underneath it when it fell. See photo below.

Whilst electricity supplies and telephone lines were mostly unaffected, we are aware of some residents who have suffered a temporary loss of power, or have lost their phone lines.

Whilst we were in Kalkan this morning, we had a look at the platform at Indigo beach club, which was damaged by storms, a few months ago.  It's not looking good.

The weather outlook for Kalkan is for more breezy weather this weekend, then a bright day on Monday, followed by several rainy days.

You can see the weather for yourself, by taking a look at the KTLN webcams.  We have just been to check out the site for our new webcam, and it's looking good.  Fantastic view!  We hope to be switching that one on in mid April.
