Kalkan libraryOn 25th January, Kalkan Turkish Local News told you about the relocation of the library to the town centre - where the old Deniz Bank branch used to be.

We said that the library should be up and running by February, and it is.

Whilst most of the books in there are Turkish (naturally), you will find quite a few shelves dedicated to English language books.

They also have daily Turkish newspapers for you to read, and in season, it is planned to have a selection of British newspapers.

They also intend to place tables and chairs in front of the library where you can read al fresco. You will even be offered fresh Turkish tea.

Two computers will be installed next month, providing free internet access. We are not sure at this stage how they will manage access to the computers - perhaps there will be a time limit at peak times.

Anyone can use the library. All you need is some identification - we suggest your passport. Books can be borrowed for 15 days.

The library welcomes donations of books and DVDs. People have asked us in the past about KTLN setting up a scheme to borrow books and films on DVD.  Well here is the perfect solution - the municipal library.

Please note that currently there are no DVDs to borrow, but if everyone donates a few, the whole community will benefit.

The Kalkan municipality library opening hours are as follows:

Sunday & Monday: closed

Tuesday to Saturday: 8.00am to 12 noon, and 1pm to 5pm.
