Share 4. What you think about Kalkan Remember that each of our 406 respondents represents a household or group of people. We estimate the total number represented is over 1,200 people. How satisfied are you with the environment? 4.1 Air quality![]() 98% of you are very satisfied, or satisfied with air quality. That's the same as last year. 4.2 Cleanliness of the sea ![]() 93% of you are very satisfied, or satisfied with the cleanliness of the sea. About the same as last year. 4.3 Cleanliness of the beach ![]() 89% of you are very satisfied, or satisfied with the cleanliness of the beach. That's a slight improvement on last year, (87%). 4.4 Cleanliness of streets ![]() 76% of you are very satisfied, or satisfied with the cleanliness of the streets, (prior year 74%). Around 11% are dissatisfied or very dissatisfied - broadly the same as last year. Overall, a slight improvement here. 4.5 Tranquility (absence of noise) ![]() We asked for your views on tranquility (absence of noise) for the first time this year. Two thirds of respondents (66%) are either very satisfied or satisfied with the peace and quiet in Kalkan. Just over 23% are neutral on this, whilst approximately 10% are either very dissatisfied or dissatisfied.
4.6 The views Almost 99% think the views are great! Virtually the same as last year. No surprises there then. How satisfied are you with the recreational facilities? 4.7 Access to countryside![]() 84% are very satisfied, or satisfied with access, (prior year 86%). Less than 2% were not happy with access. 4.8 Beachclubs ![]() 69% are very satisfied, or satisfied with the beachclubs, (prior year 74%). Less than 1% said they were unhappy. 30% were neutral or had no opinion. 4.9 Boat trip services ![]() 87% said they were very satisfied, or satisfied, (prior year 89%). Less than 1% were unhappy - same as last year. 4.10 Local day trip options ![]() 78% said they were very satisfied, or satisfied, (prior year 85%). 21% were neutral or expressed no opinion - perhaps because they are not especially interested in day trips. Only 1% were unhappy - a tiny proportion. 4.11 Sport facilities ![]() Only 29% are very satisfied, or satisfied with sports facilities, (prior year 35%). A significant proportion, 67% , were neutral, (prior year 59%), which we interpret as people who may not be too bothered to have/use sports facilities, whilst on holiday. Just 4% were dissatisfied or very dissatisfied. 4.12 Watersport facilities ![]() 37% of people are very satisfied, or satisfied with watersport facilities, (prior year 55%). 61% are neutral, or did not express an opinion, so are not too bothered either way - possibly not into watersport. Only 2% are dissatisfied or very dissatisfied - quite a small proportion.
How satisfied are you with local services? 4.13 Car parking![]() Around 47% expressed no opinion, or a neutral view on this. Around 41% are happy about parking facilities - similar to last year. About 11% are dissatisfied, or very dissatisfied with parking facilities, (prior year 15%). 4.14 Condition of roads ![]() Only 38% of people are very satisfied, or satisfied with roads in Kalkan, although this is a 3% improvement on last year. 33% expressed no opinion, or a neutral view. And 28% are either dissatisfied or very dissatisfied, which is a significant number, but an improvement on last year, (35%). In last year's survey, this was the biggest single complaint in your comments, with 18% of comments referring to the poor state of the roads. This year it only featured in 6% of your comments. 4.15 Electricity supply ![]() 41% are very satisfied or satisfied with their supply, which is significantly down on last year - 52%. A further 34% expressed no opinion, or are neutral, which we interpret as reflecting no major issues. This leaves a quarter of people (26%) who are either dissatisfied or very dissatisfied. - up from 18% last year. 4.16 Medical services ![]() We asked for your views on medical services, for the first time this year. Almost half of our respondents (49%) said they were either satisfied or very satisfied. Another 47% expressed no opinion, or were neutral on this. Just 4% were either dissatisfied or very dissatisfied. 4.17 Property tax rate ![]() 62% don't feel strongly one way or another, either with no opinion, or a neutral vote. 35% are happy. Just 3% are unhappy. However, these figures include non property owners. Just looking at the people who actually pay the tax, roughly 64% are happy, 31% neutral, and 4% unhappy - pretty much the same as last year. 4.18 Rubbish collection ![]() 57% of people are very satisfied, or satisfied with rubbish collection, (prior year 60%). 36% expressed no opinion, or hold a neutral view, whilst 7% are dissatisfied or very dissatisfied, (prior year 9%). 4.19 Street lighting ![]() We asked you to rate street lighting, for the first time this year. Just over 60% are satisfied or very satisfied, with 29% neutral or holding no opinion, and around 10% dissatisfied or very dissatisfied. 4.20 Waste water/sewage system ![]() Around 48% of our respondents are very satisfied, or satisfied on this subject. Another 42% don't have strong feelings either way, leaving 10% dissatisfied or very dissatisfied. All this is broadly in line with last year. 4.21 Water supply ![]() 47% are very satisfied, or satisfied with the water supply, (prior year 50%). 29% hold a neutral view - down slightly on last year. 24%, are either dissatisfied or very dissatisfied - up from 19% last year. How satisfied are you with local businesses? 4.22 Banks ![]() Some 80% of respondents are very satisfied, or satisfied with their Turkish banks - down from 87% last year. 18% don't have any strong feelings, either way, (prior year 12%). About 1% were dissatisfied - about the same as last year. 4.23 Bars ![]() About 88% of you are happy with the bars in Kalkan - down from 93% last year. 10% are neutral, leaving around 2% dissatisfied or very dissatisfied. It is worth adding that 7% of comments complained about bars - in particular noise pollution. 4.24 Car hire ![]() 29% expressed no opinion. Of those who expressed an opinion, 83% were satisfied or very satisfied, and 3% were dissatisfied or very dissatisfied. 4.25 Coach service ![]() 51% expressed no opinion. Of those who expressed an opinion, 65% were satisfied or very satisfied, and 3% were dissatisfied or very dissatisfied. 4.26 Dolmuş service ![]() 28% expressed no opinion. Of those who expressed an opinion, 56% were satisfied or very satisfied, and 4% were dissatisfied or very dissatisfied. 4.27 Estate agents ![]() 58% expressed no opinion. Of those who expressed an opinion, 38% were satisfied or very satisfied, and 12% were dissatisfied or very dissatisfied. 4.28 Legal services ![]() We asked you to rate legal services, for the first time this year. 57% expressed no opinion. Of those who expressed an opinion, 45% were satisfied or very satisfied, and 10% were dissatisfied or very dissatisfied. 4.29 Restaurants ![]() Around 95% are very satisfied or satisfied, the same as last year. However there are fewer in the very satisfied category, and more in the satisfied category. Less than 1% were dissatisfied. That's another huge vote of confidence in Kalkan restaurants. 4.30 Scooter hire ![]() 75% expressed no opinion. Of those who expressed an opinion, 32% were satisfied or very satisfied, and 2% were dissatisfied or very dissatisfied. 4.31 Supermarkets ![]() About 84% are very satisfied, or satisfied with the supermarkets, (prior year 90%). 11% hold no strong view either way. Just over 4% are unhappy. 4.32 Taxi services ![]() 16% expressed no opinion. Of those who expressed an opinion, 56% were satisfied or very satisfied, and 23% were dissatisfied or very dissatisfied. This is slightly less favourable than last year. How satisfied are you with these other things? 4.33 Cost of living ![]() 53% said they were very satisfied or satisfied - down from 65% last year. 32% are neutral on this. 16% are dissatisfied, or very dissatisfied - up from 10% lst year. 4.34 Management of street animals ![]() 8% are very satisfied, and 29% are satisfied, compared to 14% and 30% respectively, last year. 22% appear to be neutral on this. About 23% are dissatisfied and 18% very dissatisfied, compared to 21% and 11% respectively, last year. In relation to other questions asked in this survey, this shows the highest level of dissatisfaction, with 41% of respondents unhappy. Further, 24% of all comments recorded as part of this survey, expressed concern about street dogs in Kalkan. This was the topic that generated most negative comments. The next most common topic for complaints was prices in Kalkan (15% of comments). 4.35 Quality of life ![]() Around 90% are very satisfied or satisfied with the quality of life in Kalkan, (prior year 95%). 9% are neutral, with less than 1% unhappy. 4.36 Traffic ![]() 62% are happy, 29% neutral, and just over 10% unhappy. Last year it was 71%, 19% and 9% respectively. 4.37 Overall, how satisfied are you with your experience of Kalkan? ![]() Around 96% are very satisfied or satisfied with their overall experience of Kalkan, (prior year 98%). Less than 1% unhappy. Here at Kalkan Turkish Local News, we reckon that is a pretty clear vote of confidence in this wonderful town.
