I always thought there was a need for a website that would convey all the current news, and local information in English to expats, as well as tourists visiting Kalkan, and I think you do it very well.

Access road to Kömürlük closed - diversion in place PDF Print E-mail

KömürlükResidents of Kömürlük discovered yesterday that access from the D400 Kaş Road has been blocked.

To reach Kömürlük now, it is necessary to use the Kışla exit, and then take the first road on the right, which is in fact, nothing more than a rough, dirt track.

This is perfectly passable for cars and scooters, and also for pedestrians, although at this time of year, the track is extremely muddy, as well as being uneven, so care is needed.

The other end of this service road, from Kömürlük to Kalkan is not open yet.

Below: The blocked access road.

This road has been sealed as part of the Belediye road works, to construct the new service road, Kışla Caddesi, which will run parallel to the D400 road, between Kışla and Kalkan.

You can see from our photos that contractors on the D400 are hard at work - mostly near to the Kışla exit, and you can also see work progressing on the service road.

KTLN also brings you a photo taken today, of the beginnings of the footpath from Kalkan beach to Kömürlük. You can see that it is quite a steep climb, and is some way off, being ready to use.
