Spring flowerReminder: Here in Kalkan, spring is in the air. Now is the time when all keen gardeners in Kalkan are starting to prepare their gardens for the warmer months ahead.

Here is an appeal to all gardeners: if you are cutting, tidying or re-organising your garden, please don't throw anything away.

There are fundraisers in Kalkan who would love to take your unwanted plants and cuttings, so they can raise money at a forthcoming sale, for the Kalkan Rehabilitation Centre.

This springtime sale takes place on Sunday 20th March, at the Lounge Bistro bar, just off Kalamar Road, starting at 11am.

You can 'pot up' in any type of container, and all contributions are welcomed, from full grown shrubs to tiny, two leaf cuttings. If you can attach a small label naming the type of plant, so much the better.

If you don't know what your plant is, don't worry; our keen gardeners are bound to be able to identify it. There will also be gardening experts on hand on the day, to answer your gardening queries.

Already, a number of property developers in Kalkan have generously agreed to donate plants, so the organisers hope to have a great selection for you, on the day.

But that's not all. If you don't have a garden, don't worry, there will be something for everyone. Some of Kalkan's finest cooks are donating cakes and pastries.

Plus, there will be a preserve stall, with jams and marmalades, (including lime marmalde, an exclusive, very limited edition product, made from the fruit of Kalkan's only lime tree), Theresa's famous lemon curd, spicy chutnies and mouthwatering pickles.

They will also have a book stall, a hand made card stall and a fabulous raffle with many exciting prizes.

If anybody would like to contribute prizes for the raffle, give plants, get rid of their old books or bake a cake, pastry or sweet delight, please contact the organisers via the following link: Help for Children. They can come and collect all donations.

The organisers would like to raise 1000TL, so they can hold a summer party and barbecue for the 42 children at the special needs school, and also buy further rehabilitation equipment.

Make sure you get there early, to avoid disappointment.
