Women's DayTuesday 8th March 2011, is celebrated as International Women's Day, in Turkey.

The date does vary slightly in different countries, but at about this time of year, ladies will be celebrating, all over the world.

In Kalkan, at 12 noon tomorrow, a number of ladies intend to walk from the Belediye to the statue of Atatürk, where they will place flowers.  Afterwards, they will go to the harbour for refreshments.

On Tuesday evening, at around 7pm, a ladies only meal is to be held at the Çinar Bar, just behind Yalı supermarket.  The meal costs 50TL per person.

If you wish to join in, please feel free to take part.  Non-Turkish women would be very welcome.  We understand that the Mayor of Kalkan, Saim Karakurt, will make a brief appearance.

If you wish to go to the evening meal, the Çinar Bar needs to know numbers as soon as possible, (it is short notice, but KTLN has only just received details).
