British Embassy
A number of people have been asking us for news on the expected changes to the Turkish visa rules, and the associated subject of residency.

The short answer is that we need to be patient for a little while longer.  In this article we report what we know, but please don't get excited, as there is still no official announcement.

Kalkan Turkish Local News last reported on this topic on 23rd December 2010. To read that article, click here.

Since we wrote that report, there have been meetings between the British Ambassador and the Turkish Minister of the Interior, and also between British Embassy officials and representatives from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The most recent meeting took place yesterday, 14th March.

Our source close to the action has confirmed that dialogue is continuing, but in matters of this nature, it takes time to work out the detail.

So when can we expect to hear something official? The best estimate we can give you is April or May 2011.

Here at Kalkan Turkish Local News, we appreciate that many people are keen to know when these changes are coming in.  We can assure you that we are on the ball with this news story, and the very minute there is anything official, you will be able to read about it here.
