Ceremony rescheduled: Most people have heard of the Gallipoli campaign, or the Dardanelles campaign, in the 1st World War.

Between February 1915 and January 1916, the joint forces of the British Empire and France, tried to sieze the Ottoman capital Constantinople, now called Istanbul.  The military campaign ended in failure, with heavy losses on both sides.

A significant naval battle took place on 18th March 1915, when a combined British and French force of 18 battleships, made an all out attack.

However, they underestimated the Ottoman navy, and suffering heavy losses, they withdrew. This was a major victory for the Ottomans, and is a day that is still remembered in modern day Turkey.

Everyone is invited, so why not come along and experience the Turkish community celebrating their history. The proceedings start at 10am, and will last no longer than an hour.
