I joined KTLN because the friends we have made by going to Kalkan for the past four years have not stopped talking about how good your website is, and how useful it has been to them while holidaying in Kalkan.

Morel mushroom festival - 8th to 10th April 2011 PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 22 March 2011
ShareMorel mushroomsThis April sees the third annual Morel mushroom festival, taking place in Yeşilüzümlü, near Fethiye.

The event organiser, who's a real fun guy, asked KTLN to tell you all about it.

It all kicks off at 10am on Friday 8th April, with a panel of experts talking about products from the forest, Morels and other fungi, and medical herbs. Talks and seminars will mostly be conducted in both Turkish and English.

Most of the events over the three days are free, but there is a small charge if you want to go on mushroom forays, into the forest.

Other interesting aspects of the event include how to identify different mushrooms, and how to know what is safe to eat. There will also be tips on how to cook these tasty morsels from the forest floor.

You will find local arts and craftwork on display, plus there will be live music. There is even fun for the children, with face painting, donkey tours, kites and story telling.

If you want to find out more, visit their website, which is packed with information, including a great guide to mushrooms in Turkey - which ones are safe to eat, and which ones are poisonous.  Click on the following link: Morel Fest website

This may appear to be a 'niche recreational activity', but it looks like a lot of fun, and it is a great way of getting back to nature and exploring some beautiful countryside.
