How fab to check out the web cams - one night I just feasted on the moonlit sea over Kalamar Bay where we have our villa, and just dreamt of being there. Kalkan is therapy for the soul!

This improvement to the communications infrastructure, will result in a faster and more reliable internet service for customers. Türk Telekom has got sub-contractors in different areas of Kalkan at the moment, laying the new cables. It is difficult to get precise information as to which areas will come on stream and when, but we saw cable being laid along Kalamar Road today, and we have been advised that the Kızıltaş area is due to be upgraded imminently.
So over the coming weeks, if your internet connection stops working for a short period, it could be due to this work to bring Kalkan into the 21st Century. One other thing to mention, is that if you have a fixed/static IP address, this will change when the new fibre optic cables are introduced. By default, ADSL is supplied in Kalkan with a dynamic IP, (i.e. you are given the next available line when your router logs in to the network). A small number of people choose to have a fixed/static IP address - you pay a bit extra for this. For example, KTLN HQ has a static IP address because we need it for our live webcam feed. Sadly, you may find that some of our webcams stop working over the coming days, as we deal with this changeover. We will aim to get everything back up and running as quickly as possible.
