What made me sign up to KTLN?  It's a good source of information/news and I always point clients to it as another reference point, on top of all the information we give them.  So well done.

Where relevant, this news article provides links to helpful pages in the KTLN Knowledge Bank, available to registered members of KTLN.

Residency is a pre-requisite to applying for Turkish Citizenship.

Last but not least, probably the biggest single advantage is that you do not risk a fine, or instant deportation plus a fine. If you spend most of the year living in Turkey, the law states that you must have residency. Quite a big plus point, we think you will agree.

In the past, the authorities appear to have turned a blind eye to the visa run, but with the introduction of the new 90/180 day visas expected later in 2011, long term foreign residents are going to have to obtain residency, or else leave Turkey for 3 months, every 3 months. (Or risk a fine, deportation or both).
