Organised by the people of Patara, you are invited to take part in the traditional nomadic walk from Delikkemer to Patara. The walk starts at 10.00, and after a welcome reception, everyone walks towards Patara. As this reflects the local nomadic traditions, walkers will be accompanied by camels, horses, donkeys, and the odd sheep and goat.
For those who are unable to walk, this point can be reached by car, by turning left at the cement factory near Yeşilköy, and following the unmade road. Then it's on to Patara village (Gelemiş), for more singing and dancing, and perhaps a few glasses of çay. In previous years transport has been provided to get to the starting point, and for the return to Kalkan from Patara. A modest charge is made for this. We anticipate that transport will be available this year, but at the moment, we have no details. Update Friday 15th April: Buses will leave at 09.30 from outside the Belediye, heading for the starting point. We believe there is no charge. If you are making your own way to the start at Delikkemer, head towards Fethiye on the D400, go over the brow of the hill and down the other side. As you reach the bottom of the hill and as the road bends to the right, turn left on to a side road, (before the Fırnaz Cafe and before you reach Yeşilköy). Follow the road until you see people gathering. Click here to read about last year's walk: Delikkemer to Patara Walk 2010

Update Friday 15th April: This is a fantastic day out, (starting at 10.00 and lasting perhaps 3 hours or so), and it's all free.
At the half way point, (Tavas), by a Lycian water well, there is a free picnic meal, accompanied by traditional music and dancing.
