LOVE the website, so much information and I always recommend it to our guests, particularly the map, which is very comprehensive.

The weather last Saturday, was perfect for the 350+ walkers, who formed the procession - not to mention assorted camels, horses and donkeys. This walk mostly follows the Lycian Way, and also an ancient aquaduct. The views never fail to deliver that 'wow factor'. The Mayor of Kalkan sat astride his trusty steed for 5 or 10 minutes, at the start of the walk. However, discretion being the better part of valour, he opted to walk, following a brief, but perilous rodeo ride. The horse was clearly in a mood. The free meal at Tavas was delicious: chicken, rice, salad and bread, plus ayran and water. There were a few speeches, some live music and dancing, before the caravan moved on to Patara for more entertainment. We always look forward to this walk, at the start of the season. It is great fun, and particularly well organised. If you didn't make it this year, make a note in your diary for April 2012. Here are a few photos from the day. Below: Musicians serenade a camel. The organisers of the annual nomadic walk from Delikkemer to Patara, via Tavas, can look back on a job well done.
