It is a public holiday (Bayram), and there will be celebrations all over the country. In Kalkan, there will be the usual parade by schoolchildren down to Atatürk's statue, at 09.00, followed later in the morning by lots of fun up at the market area, not far from the Belediye. You can expect lots of speeches, music, singing, dancing and colourful costumes. We have not seen the official timetable yet, but our guess is that the celebrations at the market area will start at around 09.30. Later on Saturday, at 17.00, there will be a bit of a do down at the Culture House, (opposite Salt & Pepper restaurant). Cocktails and nibbles will be served as an art exhibition is officially opened by the Mayor, and the Governor of Kaş. The exhibition goes on until 2nd May 2011.
