The site is easy to navigate, has a wealth of information, and is everything I like to see in a website.  Any questions I could have asked, already had clear answers on KTLN.  The webcams were an added bonus.

Ilyada SigortaWe have enough information to justify What's New in Kalkan for 2011, part 4.  So here it is.

In an earlier update, we promised to bring you news of the local minibus service, summer timetable.  This will be available soon, and we will publish a separate news article.

Amongst other things, this update covers restaurants, insurance brokers, a supermarket, car hire business, a new optician, and a furniture shop.

Ibo's Pancake House on Kalamar Road, just by the Asfiya, has been renamed Johnny's Cafe Bar and Restaurant.

Ilyada Sigorta, is a new insurance broker, on Kalamar Road, not far from Johnny's Cafe (as mentioned above).

And Ege Sigorta has moved from Kalamar Road to an office a few doors away from Cafe Leon.

Teskom on Kalamar Road is no more, however, it is going to be replaced by another supermarket, under the management of the Yali supermarket people.  It will be opening on 1st May.

La Sera Restaurant, above the La Sera Turkish bath, (near to the Elixir Hotel), is under new management, and will be opening on or around the 3rd May.

As we reported recently, Kalkan has now got a qualified optician.  The Göz Optician store is in the centre of town on No 2 Sokak, between Baykush Gift Store and Şeyma's Spices.

Kalkan is getting another car hire company.  The Kalkan Global Car Rental company can be found operating from the Samira Deluxe apartments offices, in the Kızıltaş area of town.

The White Table cafe, mentioned in What's New part 1, has a free Wii games area.

There is a new furniture shop just uphill from Adda supermarket, on the other side of the road.  It's called Ahşap Mobilya (Wood Furniture).  It features hand made, rustic furniture, which has a 'back to nature' feel about it.  The shop also sells art and craft work.  The owners have been in Kaş for many years, and now they are expanding to Kalkan.

The Sun Terrace Restaurant, above Flamingo Bar, is no more.  In its place is the new Ephesus Restaurant - so named because one of the partners, Abdullah, used to work in tourism at the amazing Ephesus site.

Kalkan will have another new restaurant, in about ten days, (8th May).  Ali's Restaurant and Fish Market, is opening where Ilban restaurant was back in 2009, opposite Parc Kalkan.  As you may deduce, it specialises in fish.  Not only will they cook it for you, but you can buy fresh fish to take home.

The old Sezekler butchers shop, round the corner from the Tedaş, is being redeveloped.  The owner has not quite decided what it will be.  We will be watching to see what turns up.
