New for2011We have been putting in a few extra hours, here at Kalkan Turkish Local News (KTLN), to get the website ready for the new season.

In this article, we signpost some of the things you can find on KTLN, which we hope will add to your enjoyment of Kalkan, when you visit.

If you rent out your Kalkan property, why not let your guests know about KTLN, before they fly out.  You could print off some of our pages, to include in your welcome pack.

Web cameras
There are now six KTLN webcams, providing some excellent views of Kalkan.

In time for this season, we have switched back on the Old Town webcam at Gironda, and we have introduced a new camera at Korsan Fish Terrace, which looks out on to the beach, and Kalkan Bay.  It's great for watching the boats come in and out of the harbour.  Remember to give us a wave if you are on a boat!

We are currently running a poll to find out which is your favourite webcam.  Members who are logged in can see the poll on the right hand side of our home page.

Things to do & Places to go
We have updated some of our content in the KTLN Knowledge Bank.  For example, our article on 'Beaches & Beach Clubs' has been re-written.  Thanks to Sunshine Sue for her valuable contribution.

We plan to add more to our 'Places to go' section quite soon.

Driving directions - Dalaman to Kalkan
Are you planning to drive the 126 kilometres from Dalaman airport to Kalkan?  We have updated our directions for the 2011 season.  Our article now includes photos of key landmarks, and tells you how far it is, in kilometres, from one village to another, as you drive along the route.

Rate on the Street exchange rates
We are pleased to say that we have now got all three information providers supplying the latest rates on offer, on the street in Kalkan.

We would like to thank Infinity Jewellery, Kalkan PTT and Yardan Jewellery for taking the time to update the rates for us.

Please note that all rates are shown on a like for like basis.  The PTT rate is net of commission.  Whilst we expect the rates to be kept up to date, this is down to the businesses concerned, and KTLN can not be held responsible if the rate given in the shop, differs from the rate quoted on our website.

Business Directory
There are over 550 entries in the KTLN Business Directory, the most up to date and comprehensive Kalkan directory you will find.

The details have been painstakingly reviewed and updated for the 2011 season, and all the latest movers and shakers have been incorporated.  We have taken quite a few new photos.

We have also re-organised our Services section, by adding details of the service they provide, rather than just a name, (e.g. Accountant, Barber, Mechanic etc).

Map of Kalkan
We have also taken the opportunity to review and update our interactive map of Kalkan.  Most of the businesses featured in our Business Directory are plotted on our map of Kalkan, so you can easily find out where in Kalkan they are.

You can find over 440 businesses, in 14 categories, (Activities; Banks; Electrical; Food & Drink; Hotels; Household; Medical; Property; Supermarkets; Retail Other; Services; Tourism; Transport, and Other).

Simply click on the name of the business you are interested in, and you will see where it is located, and relevant contact details.

Whilst we do our best to ensure accuracy, in both our map and our directory, we may have made the odd mistake.  If you spot any errors or omissions, please tell us, and we will put things right.

Classified Adverts
We recently reintroduced our free Classified Adverts section.  You can use this for anything you want to sell or give away to a good home.  You can also use it to look for an airport transfer share.

The KTLN Trust Store
We have added a brand new feature, the KTLN Trust Store, where you can buy your holiday reading through Amazon.  You will see a number of great books on Turkey, but you can order anything you like.

The great thing about this feature is that every time you order something, The KTLN Trust gets a small commission.  You don't pay any more - just the normal, competitive Amazon price.

Please note that 100% of any commission received goes directly to The KTLN Trust.  Not a penny goes towards the running costs of this website.

Flight & Travel Information
The most viewed page on KTLN, this section is packed with useful information, to help you with your journey.  We have updated it for 2011.

Ten second Turkish
If you want to brush up on your Turkish before coming out, may we recommend our Ten Second Turkish feature.  There is nothing new for this season, however, you will find 52 articles, each containing 7 words or phrases, that you may find useful in Kalkan.

The KTLN Toolbar
And check out the KTLN Toolbar, which gives you your favourite KTLN features, all in one place, at the top of your screen.  It includes a very handy radio button, which brings you the main BBC radio stations - just one click is all you need.  Why not give it a try?

iKalkan.com
If you have a portable internet device, (such as an iPhone), why not try our specially designed KTLN service on www.iKalkan.com

Finally, we hope that you enjoy your holiday, and enjoy the very best of Kalkan, with Kalkan Turkish Local News
