As our photos show, there is some work going on at the beach, and the barriers are being put in place to restrict traffic in the evenings. There have also been tannoy announcements asking local businesses to remove signs on paths and roads, to keep them clear. Down at the beach Along this stretch of road they are installing wooden seating - each unit can seat 9 people. (Roof not yet fitted, in photo below).
At the far end of the beach they have created some concrete steps, where you can sit and look back at the harbour, or a Kalkan sunset. (They are a bit rough and ready at the moment - we assume they are not quite finished yet).
On the beach, at the Fener/Kleo end, you will now find a number of fixed sun-shades. You can hire these, and sunbeds for a small fee.
Meanwhile, back on the roads, we have now reached the time when the old town centre is to be out of bounds to traffic in the evenings (after 7pm). This photo was taken this morning, and shows Belediye workmen installing the barrier at the top end of the old town.
The car park, just off the town centre roundabout, has been extended, however it has not been completely resurfaced. It is usable, with care. Incidentally, we have repositioned our Town webcam, hosted by Mavi Bilgisayar, away from the taxi rank, to show the roundabout. And finally, whilst not Belediye related, here is another sign that Kalkan is gearing up for the main season. The PTT (post office), will be operating summer opening hours from Saturday 14th May - i.e. it will remain open until midnight.

Kalkan Belediye workers are busy finishing a few jobs, in time for the expected influx of tourists.
