Thursday 19th May is a public holiday in Turkey.  It is Youth & Sports Day (Gençlik ve Spor Bayramı).

In the morning at 9 am, there will be a ceremony down by the Atatürk statue in town. 

Following this, there will be a number of activities taking place at the school amphitheatre.  Anyone is free to join in the celebrations.

Last year, celebrations took place in the area where the weekly market is held, but because this year, the public holiday falls on a Thursday, the venue has been changed, to make way for the stallholders.

If you have a Turkish flag, why not fly it to mark this special day in Turkey. 

Please note that all banks and the Belediye will be closed on this day.
