I always thought there was a need for a website that would convey all the current news, and local information in English to expats, as well as tourists visiting Kalkan, and I think you do it very well.

The weather was brilliant, as the day started with the usual procession down to the statue of Atatürk, by the harbour. After a brief ceremony, everyone made their way to the school amphitheatre, where the children entertained a full house. There were not too many foreigners there to soak up the atmosphere, and the few that did turn up seemed to drift off after an hour or so of solid speeches, delivered with passion, patriotism and considerable volume. That was a shame, because what followed was quite entertaining, as you may gather from our photos below. When these performances finally came along, (singing, dancing and sports displays), they were well done, and the audience applauded with enthusiasm. Overhead, a paraglider, trailing a large Turkish flag, buzzed the amphitheatre and dropped confetti on to the cheering crowd below. Here are some photos from the day, provided by Elibol Photographers of Kalkan.

Thursday 19th May, was National Youth & Sports Day, and Kalkan's schoolchildren led the celebrations, with some great performances in the amphitheatre.
