Children from the visual arts and technology design classes, put their work on display, in an exhibition that was officially opened by Mayor Saim Karakurt and the school's founders, Durmuş and Gülser Gedikoğlü. There were some excellent, colourful paintings to see, plus a number of models and hand made art objects. There were general themes of the future, caring for the environment, and recycling. The children even had a table serving traditional Turkish food, which they had prepared themselves. In the interests of journalistic thoroughness, your reporter felt obliged to sample the fayre. It was delicious. The school in Akbel only opened in September 2009, and this is the first time that head teacher Faruk Atilgan has organised such an event. Hopefully, this will be the first of many such exhibitions of work done by the children of Akbel. Here are a few photos, which give you a flavour of what was on show. Below: Some futuristic and space themed paintings.
Below: Very creative, and well put together.
Below: Patara and the sea turtles are featured in many of these paintings.
Below: Service with a smile. The food was amazingly good.
Below: Sweet anyone?
