A volley of about 10 rockets went off, one after the other, and 20 minutes later there was another similar pyrotechnic display, booming out across the town. Kalkan Turkish Local News has learned that this noisy individual, (whom we have decided not to identify in this article), was given a rocket by the Jandarma Chief. He has also been fined for his untimely, and irritating dawn display. (The photo above is from the KTLN image library, not this morning). On a related matter, the Jandarma Chief and Kalkan Mayor, Saim Karakurt held a meeting this afternoon, with Kalkan's bar owners, to remind them of the rules regarding the playing of loud music at night. Last year, some bars were fined, for playing music too loudly late at night, and nobody wants to see that happen again this year. Below, we remind you of the rules, which were introduced by the Belediye Board on 22nd July 2009. (Start of announcement) For all the establishments defined below, situated within Kalkan town and contiguous areas, the Belediye Board decided as follows:
Live music, dance shows, other events, fireworks and other shows must not cause offence to nearby establishments. These defined times and conditions will apply during this season, in order to prevent the causing of offence. The first official report (of a breach) will result in a fine of 2,000TL, the second offence under item 2559 of the Police Jurisdiction Law 6th para, final clause, will attract an additional fine of 4,000TL. If there is a 3rd offence, as defined by the law, the establishment will be closed temporarily. Any negative response will lead to legal proceedings. Please regard this information and directive as a matter of priority. (End of announcement) Sleep well everyone.

If you were in Kalkan at 5am this morning (Thursday), your slumber may well have been broken by the sound of fireworks going off.
