LOVE the website, so much information and I always recommend it to our guests, particularly the map, which is very comprehensive.

Short-toed Eagle in Kalamar Bay PDF Print E-mail

Ornithology news.  KTLN member Robert Tuff, took this great photo of a short-toed eagle in Kalamar Bay on Friday 8th May.  KTLN members can see a slightly larger photo in our Kalkan photo gallery.

The short-toed eagle is fairly common in Mediterranean countries, with an estimated 1,000 to 5,000 in Turkey.

They migrate from south of the Sahara between February and April, and return there in September.  Their diet consists of lizards and snakes.  Robert last saw one above Islamlar twelve months ago, but he has never seen one over Kalkan before.

If you have any interesting nature photos from the Kalkan area drop us a line and we may put them in our photo gallery.  We will credit you as the photographer.
