The mobile went missing from a shop in the town centre at the weekend, and when the shop's CCTV was viewed, the images implicated the tourist. On Monday, the suspect was spotted at a beach club, and the Jandarma were called. As the Jandarma approached, the woman attempted to ditch the mobile phone, but someone saw it 'slipping through her fingers', and managed to recover it, as evidence. The person arrested has been released from custody, but is due to appear in court soon. She has been instructed not to leave the area. The Jandarma will present the evidence, and the judges will decide. For our local shop worker, reunited with the mobile phone, 'ring ring' is the happiest sound of them all. Once again, this incident demonstrates that CCTV can work, and it also shows that the Jandarma will act swiftly when they receive information about a suspect.
