Blue FlagKalkan Belediye has been working hard to achieve Blue Flag status for the main town beach.

We are pleased to say that they have now achieved their goal.  Click on this link to go to the official Blue Flag organisation website.  Blue Flag Website

Kalkan town beach now has a lifeguard and first aid post, with a flag to indicate swimming conditions.

There should be a trained lifeguard on duty in the main season, normally present between the hours of 9am and 5pm.

Below: The lifeguard and first aid post, close to Pinar Büfe.

If you go down to the beach, you may also notice that at the end furthest from the harbour, there is now a beach volleyball facility, for the more energetic amongst you. We understand that you can use this facility for free.  The guys at the Pinar Büfe have the ball.

If you just fancy being a spectator, the Pinar Büfe offers a good vantage point.

A quick word about the Festival of the Sea, on Friday 1st July, (tomorrow).  We hear that in addition to the swimming competition, and the greasy pole, there will also be a sea kayaking event, plus various displays.  The full programme can be found in this updated KTLN news article: KTLN - Festival of the Sea 2011

For information, Club Patara's beach club also has Blue Flag status.

KTLN members can read more about the beaches and beach clubs in the area, by looking in the KTLN Knowledge Bank.
