Article updated: Over recent months if you wanted to take a boat trip from Kaş to the Greek island of Meis, your options were limited.

Following the withdrawal of the Altug service, the only boat in town was the Meis Express.  With a monopoly on the Meis run, their prices went up from 40TL to 50TL.

Now they have a competitor - the Kahramanlar began operating on 1st August.

To mark their first week they are offering trips to Meis at a specially discounted price of just 5 euros (10TL), for a return ticket. 

Article update: Apparently, the introductory discount is over already, and the price is now 17 euros - slightly less than Meis Express.

The boat sails at 10am daily.  You need to be there at least one hour before to hand in your passports and deal with any customs administration.

Let's hope that this competition benefits the consumer, by bringing prices down on a permanent basis.
