Holidays 4u - Aegean Flights goes bust PDF Print E-mail

Aegean FlightsBreaking news: Brighton based tour operator Holidays 4u, also trading as Aegean Flights, has gone into administration.

BBC News reports that around 12,000 holidaymakers are currently abroad, in Turkey.

Depending which web site you read Holidays 4u had between 20,000 and 50,000 forward bookings to Turkey.

The administrators, Price Waterhouse Coopers, said passengers booked on future flights, should not travel to the airport, but should refer to the CAA for more information.

The Atol website is being updated regularly with details of return flights for passengers currently on holiday.

The KTLN Flight & Travel page has links for the ATOL and ABTA web sites.

We sincerely hope that any KTLN readers who are affected by this news, will be able to make alternative arrangements, and get their holiday in Kalkan.

This is unwelcome news for travellers and also Turkish businesses.  Last year, (2010), was a bad year for the travel industry, with the demise of Cyprus Turkish airlines (KTHY) in June, Goldtrail in July, Sun4youdirect and Kiss Flights in August - plus the impact of that volcanic ash cloud, at the start of the season.

This year, tourist numbers are definitely down, probably due to the adverse economic climate in Britain, and the collapse of Holidays 4u is bound to have some kind of impact.  It looks like being a tough year.
