I continue to be very impressed with KTLN - not only for its content, but also they way it is very informative but shows discretion in the way it reports, but is very clear in its content. Well done and thank you.

Pharaoh enough! Egyptian government responds to tourism outcry PDF Print E-mail

Yesterday, Kalkan Turkish Local News reported how visitors to Egypt were going to be required to obtain a visa prior to travelling.

Today, we can tell you that this decision has been suspended.

In a surprise move, reminiscent of Turkey's decision to suspend the introduction of new 90/180 day visa regulations, the Egyptian government has decided to back-track.

The decision had caused a outcry from the Egyptian tourism industry.  It seems that this was a key factor in making this U turn.

Yesterday, KTLN suggested that the need for a visa prior to travelling to Egypt, may have put people off going there - benefiting other tourist destinations, such as Turkey.

In view of this latest news, we are now back to where we were before.  You can read more by clicking on the following links:

There is still no official view on the introduction of the 90/180 day visa scheme in Turkey.  KTLN will bring you details when there are any developments.
