I joined KTLN for the local news. It's great to keep in touch with what is happening throughout the year in Kalkan, especialy when it is cold and wet in England, gives me something to look forward to.

There is a scheme in Turkey, which enables you to exchange these plastic tops for wheelchairs, for the disabled. Apparently, if they can raise 10,000 bottle tops, this will enable them to get one wheelchair. You can leave your bottle tops at the taxi rank in the centre of town. So far they have collected several plastic bags of mostly water bottle tops, but our understanding is that all plastic bottle tops are acceptable. Please note, they are not collecting plastic bottles, which you should dispose of in the usual way. Below: Kalkan taxi drivers with some bottle tops collected.

It may be a little late in the season to bring this to your attention, but the taxi drivers of Kalkan have told us that they are collecting plastic (
