It may be a little late in the season to bring this to your attention, but the taxi drivers of Kalkan have told us that they are collecting plastic (PET) bottle tops, and they are seeking your help to get a many as they can.

There is a scheme in Turkey, which enables you to exchange these plastic tops for wheelchairs, for the disabled.

Apparently, if they can raise 10,000 bottle tops, this will enable them to get one wheelchair.

You can leave your bottle tops at the taxi rank in the centre of town.

So far they have collected several plastic bags of mostly water bottle tops, but our understanding is that all plastic bottle tops are acceptable. 

Please note, they are not collecting plastic bottles, which you should dispose of in the usual way.
