Kalkan Turkish Local News told you earlier this year how Kalkan Belediye had been successful in securing Blue Flag status for the town beach.

We thought you may like to know there is a web site where you can monitor the regular water quality readings for yourselves.

We took a peek at the stats, and we are happy to report, they make good reading.  Long may that continue.

These checks are conducted by independent officials from Antalya.

Incidentally, on a related matter, the pay as you go water and electric points for the boats down at the harbour are working, (well for electric and waste water - clean water is still via the old pipes). 

For some time now, Kalkan boats have been monitored for the volume of waste water they discharge at the harbour collection points. 

This is an important check, as it helps to preserve the fantastic marine environment that we are blessed with.
