A day in the life is great to get to know our Kalkan neighbours and there is so much more. Mainly for me it's the Ten Seond Turkish - you've made it easy for us, so THANK YOU.

New Turkish visa rules to start on 1st February 2012 PDF Print E-mail

Turkish visaBreaking news: Hot off the press, we can confirm that the much anticipated new visa rules for visitors to Turkey, are to start on 1st February 2012.

In our last update on this subject, on 29th October, we said that the new rules would come in before the main tourist season starts, and that is exactly what will happen.

The British Embassy web site has yet to be updated, but the information has been published on a Turkish government web site.

This ruling comes under Turkish Law No.5683, concerning the Law on Residence and Travel of Foreigners in Turkey.  Visitors will be allowed to stay for up to 90 days only, within a 180 day period.

There are still a few practicalities that require explanation, for example, how and in what circumstances can you renew your visa.

In the meantime, it's business as usual.  Even if you get one of the new 90/180 day stickers in your passport, the old 90 day rules still apply, until 31st January 2012.

KTLN is in touch with the British Embassy on this subject, and we will bring you more information as soon as we have it.
