UK Air Passenger Duty to rise by 8% PDF Print E-mail

Air Passenger DutyAfter the British Chancellor's Autumn Budget announcement last week, the press reported there was to be an increase in Air Passenger Duty (APD), of 10%, next year.

It turns out that the increase in APD is 8%, which as far as a flight to Turkey is concerned, represents an increase of £1, per person.

The levy was £12, and from next April, it will be £13 per seat.

The airline industry has expressed its displeasure at the increase, however for Band A European flights, including Turkey, we doubt whether an increase of £1 per flight will be a disincentive for most people.

The increase represents a third of a cup of coffee from an airport terminal cafe!
