A business in Kaş has recently taken delivery of 4 bottlenose dolphins, which are being kept in the marina area, just off the Kaş peninsular. The arrival of these beautiful creatures has upset local animal lovers, who do not agree that dolphins should be held in captivity. At 14.30 on Monday 19th December, there will be a meeting about the dolphins, in the Kaş Belediye meeting room. The Mayor and other Belediye officers will be there, as well as representatives of the owners of the dolphin facility.Your attendance is requested Locals who are opposed to the dolphins being kept in captivity, in Kaş marina, have started a Facebook page, to publicise what is going on: Free the Kas Dolphins. They are keen to have support from people in Kalkan, and other nearby towns and villages. We understand that there is wider media interest in this story, and organisers tell us that at least one UK newspaper will be covering events. Echoes of Tom and Misha Tom and Misha's story hit the headlines, and they were eventually set free from their small pool in Hisaronu, after a successful international campaign was organised by animal lovers. You can read about this in an earlier KTLN report: Dolphins freed from captivity KTLN will be attending the meeting on Monday, and we will report what happens.
